About The Role

At LeanOps, we help high-growth startups stop bleeding money on cloud infrastructure. We need engineers who can find the waste, fix the architecture, and then build the infrastructure that scales.

This is a part-time, remote role requiring 2-4 hours of focused work daily. Your work will span cloud cost optimization, infrastructure management, automation, and reliability. Some weeks you will be deep in billing data hunting down waste. Other weeks you will be designing Terraform modules or troubleshooting a production incident at scale.

What You Will Do

  • Audit AWS, GCP, and Azure environments to find and eliminate cloud waste
  • Rightsize compute, implement Savings Plans, and optimize storage and data transfer costs
  • Manage and support large-scale production infrastructure with high availability
  • Write production-grade Terraform and build CI/CD pipelines
  • Design automated scaling architectures (Spot instances, Karpenter, cluster autoscaling)
  • Optimize containers, Docker builds, and Kubernetes resource configurations
  • Set up observability, monitoring, and cost anomaly alerting
  • Respond to incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and build runbooks
  • Improve performance across compute, networking, storage, and database layers

What You Need

  • 5+ years of hands-on production experience with AWS or GCP (ideally both)
  • Strong Terraform skills (non-negotiable)
  • Kubernetes experience (EKS, GKE, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, CI/CD, and monitoring
  • Linux systems administration and troubleshooting
  • A track record of reducing cloud costs with measurable results
  • The ability to think in systems and fix root causes, not symptoms

How We Work

LeanOps is a small, senior team. No bureaucracy, no pointless standups, no death-by-Jira.

  • Take Ownership. If you see a problem, it is your problem.
  • Think Like a Strategic Partner. Every recommendation should tie back to real business impact.
  • Fix the Root Cause. Quick fixes create future emergencies.
  • Continuous Questioning and Learning. The cloud changes weekly. We expect curiosity and system-level thinking.
  • Open Feedback, Early and Without Judgment. We would rather hear hard truths on Monday than discover problems on Friday.
  • Think Long Term. We build infrastructure that scales for years, not patches that survive until next quarter.

What We Offer

  • Fully remote, part-time (2-4 hours daily)
  • High-impact work where your contributions are visible and measurable
  • Broad technical scope across cost optimization, infrastructure, automation, and reliability
  • A senior-only team that challenges your thinking
  • No micromanagement. We hire people we trust and give them space.
